A scooter made from a disused railing. The transformation of a spatial barrier into a means of transport. The pedestrian area in front of the Archbishop's Grammar School in Prague is separated from the one-way Korunní Street by a typical red and white railing. One of the segments of the railing is unofficially and cleverly modified to be freely removable*, precisely at the point of the most natural pedestrian route across the road to the opposite sidewalk in front of the National House in Vinohrady. The frequency of use of this unofficial pedestrian crossing is evidenced, among other things, by the fact that in recent years, the removable segment of the railing has remained outside its original position almost by default. Deprived of its function, the remaining piece of railing served only as an object of play and popular creativity, constantly changing its position and orientation. The missing segment in the existing railing is a kind of memento mori of the favoritism shown to motorists at the expense of pedestrians. *The modification of the railing allowing its removal can be documented as early as 2009, according to photos available on Google Maps.
